I was just curious for those who buy sap how much you pay per gallon? I have way to many taps this year 8O , ( i couldnt pass them up), the sugar house up the road from me is willing to buy the sap from me, so I was just curious to see what the going rate is.

Up here in Vermont they have people in the paper offering 25 cents a gallon. I've heard better prices and some of the buyers will pay more for higher sugar content sap.
That's about all I know about that. :D

.25 a gallon? thats $10 for a gal of syrup... kinda knocks the profit down a bit.... oh wait we don't make a profit anyway

There is a very nice guide in the Feb 2004 Maple Syrup Digest that should be very helpful. If you don't have it, I may try to scan a copy on Sunday and post it here or on my website.

A friend of mine here in southern Maine buys sap and pays 10 cents a gallon , the same price for several years. If he had to pay 25 cents , I don't believe he'd buy it.
