i am a new member and i was wondering if there are guidelines about posting pics. i noticed a few pictures in posts, but most of "the good stuff" is in off-site places like photobucket. knowing that lots of pics in threads can slow down loading for those on dial-up, i just wanted to know what the guidelines are before i start loading up posts with too many pictures, lol.
thanks.

i have photobucket, but it is not organized very well and i have 17 pages of stuff from tree ID to pets and garden plants, lol. i know i can copy an "IMG" tag and post pics right in a thread, but i hesitate to because i see so many folks just posting a link to their photobucket page instead of posting pics. i hate to bog down the site for those with slow internet connections if that is how folks wish it to be.

Sugarnut,
When you post, you have the ability to upload and attach as many as 5 photos to your post. They'll show as thumbnails under your post, and can be clicked through to full size images. These are stored on the MapleTrader site. Oh, and each image (jpg) can't be larger than. 97.7 kb. This helps save storage space, and keeps the load on the servers down.
You're on the right track with wanting to keep the posting of full sized images in your posts to a minimum. It's not forbidden, or even actively discouraged... it's just a matter of keeping in mind that not everyone has a cable, dsl, or T1 connection.
In the past, if I wanted to point something out in a particular pic, or ask a question about something in one, I'd post it in my post. If you're just offering up pics for members to view at their leisure, I'd post links to them.

As long as the pics you post are not objectionable or the links don't point to a racy, off color or pornography site your ok. if you have some pics of guys drinking boiling sodas around an evaporator or your home summer picnic pictures are also in your photobucket, no problem, just remember there are a lot of non members who browse here and if you have pictures of your kids and stuff just be aware anyone can view them
