Thinking about tapping this weekend?

I'm thinking about tapping this weekend. What do you guys think?

If the weather is right go for it. We are in a freeze again, i plan to tap at the next thaw as long as they forcast at least 2 or better 3 good days temp wise.

Check the weather, but I think you might want to wait until something like Feb 20 assuming your trees might run until April 1st. If you see a stretch around 40 and sunny, and 20 deg at night this weekend however, you cant tap them soon enough is what I say. Light syrup is made the first runs up and down the tree then it darkens up.

I tapped 25 to see and very little flow but made a 1/2 gal and verrrrrrry good

I'm waiting for the big thaw. I think it will happen soon. That sun wants to warm things up.

You guys are in maine so it's a big difference, Ma is much warmer, but I think it will get cold again... there's still time, I will wait another week or 2

The 15 day extended forecast for my area shows highs during the day of mid to lower 20's and single numbers to a little below 0 for lows. That puts us into March nearly, so I'm figuring that March here, will come in like a lion and go out like a lamb.

always happens, Feb thaws are just a tease.... you get all tense thinking.. "I'M Going to miss it" ! Then you get the freeze up for a week or so... to me that freeze up is just a way for me to relax, get the rest done and be ready when it's really needed. of the 10 years I have been sugaring here in belchertown I have nevr tapped before the last weekend of feb.. many years have been the first weekend of March.

Got a little excited about 10 days a go but listened to you veterens and reigned it in. Thinking now about mid week, maybe boil this coming weekend. Saw one report that we might touch 50F on friday.
