Was just searching an old set of posts about SP-11 vacuum pumps. There is a lot of input from Kevin, aka the gov. aka Maple Hill Sugarhouse. All of his past posts were deleted when he was banned from the site last fall- While I know and understand the reasons for Kevin being banned from the site, is there some logic to allowing access to the non-offensive/rambling/random posts- would make the threads a lot easier to understand and be more informative...

just my $.02 worth...

Eric -

When an account is banned, it affects the user's ability to access the site though that account, but all the content connected with that account (posts, comments, ads, uploads) remains in place. The missing posts you're referring to were deleted by Maple Hill Sugarhouse, not by the forum software or it's administrators. The reason that content remains when an account is banned is for the reason you've observed - removing it can have the effect of rendering productive, instructional or just plain fun/interesting threads almost unreadable. I'm afraid the missing content isn't archived on the site, it was permanently deleted.

OGDENS -

Your example with the "Have We Hit the Bottom Yet" thread is a good one. It's nearly impossible to have a discussion about the economics that are affecting all of us without touching on all manner of personal and political beliefs. Everyone is free to express those. We just ask that members try to keep topics as relevant to Maple as possible. I think that thread in particular is proof that we can all share different opinions in a civil and respectful manner.

I feel I should say that the decision to ban the accounts belonging to Valley View Sugarhouse and Maple Hill Sugarhouse was not because of differing points of view and it was not a snap decision. It was a decision made after repeated requests by the owners/administrators of MapleTrader to respect the use of this free resource.

When Reagen had a jar of jelly bellies on his desk and it hit the news things were never the same. Could you amagine if he said he has maple syrup on ice cream.

I for one of many stopped using the forum as I felt that things were getting out of hand and off the subject. I agree that it is a shame that alot of good info was lost, but I'm glad that the forum survived.
