I have to agree with Dr. Perkins that most producers who are in it for their primary income will not blink an eye about spending .35 to get 10-15% increase in sap.
That is just like spending 35 cents on fertilizer per plant to get a larger yield from that plant. If you plant a seed it will produce some fruit without fertilizer but if you spend a little on fertilizer it will yield more than the additional cost of the fertilizer. I know a lot of us are frugal including myself but this is just another tool for us to use in the process of making syrup Keith |

I used about 250 off the Leader sanitary adapters last year that were $ .15 and I saw very little difference, not hardly even enough to pay for the cost. I don't normally retap the holes, but after initially tapping with a 19/64" bit, I retapped some with a 5/16" to see if it made any difference and the hoels that had no adapter before retapping hardly ran at all and the ones with sanitary adapter ran some. The retapping was an experiment to see what difference the adapters would make.
Side note, I only run gravity, so they may make more difference with vaccum.
